Happy Birthday Tugg!!!!

It's my big bros birthday today.  Tugg is eight-years-young.  We celebrated with a tasty carob cake with peanut butter icing from a new biz in town, Bow Wow & Meow Bakery & Boutique.  Mom got Tugg's party hat from there too, which he wasn't excited about but once she served us the cake, he decided the hat was a small sacrifice to endure. 

Then we called up our sis Smidget (Tugg's litter mate) to wish her well too.    

Happy Birthday Tugg.  Your the best brother & friend a guy could ask for.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today I’m 2-years-young!!!  Tugg and I enjoyed a peanut butter birthday cake from Just Dogs Gourmet Bakery.  As you can tell from the pictures, it was good.  

I also got a super cool birthday gift that I can’t wait to try out…a bubble machine!!!  I bet My Boy will enjoy it too. 

It’s not just my birthday today but Bogey’s too.  Who is Bogey you ask?  He is also my brother.  You see, Tugg and I aren’t just brothers because we live in the same house, we’re blood related too. 

Our other biological family members live about an hour away with our grandmother.  There’s Fletcher and Ladye Bug, our parents.  Then there are our siblings, Smidget (Tugg’s litter mate) and Bogey (my litter mate).  When the six of us get together, it’s a real wild time.    

Now with a belly full of cake, I’m off to bed.  Good night!

October - Adopt-A-Dog Month

October is American Humane Association’s Adopt-A-Dog Month.  There are many reasons why my fellow canines are up for adoption.  Many think only “bad” dogs are in need of new homes – just not so!

If there is a place in your home for a cold nose and warm heart, consider pet adoption or being a temporary pet foster home.  If neither are options for you at this time, there are other things you can do like donations to local animal shelters – even your old newspapers can often be useful.  Contact one in your area to ask about their specific needs or a wish list.

Chef Gumbo’s Recipe Review – Banana Mutt Cookies

This recipe is courtesy of the Three Dog Bakery.  Mom made a batch for Tugg and I last night and they were banana-licious!!! 

 

I give it 3 out of 4 paws.  Tugg gives it 3 ½ out of 4 paws.

“Oh Lord It’s Hard To Be Humble”

Tugg and I went to the groomer on Monday to further our rugged handsomeness.  This is not our favorite task.  Mom is usually dragging us with nails screeching.  But afterwards….ahhhh!!!!  At least they respect our manhood and don’t put bows in our hair.  Below is an after pic.

The Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer are here!  It is so hot I’ve only been going outside to take care of the necessities…if you catch my drift.  It’s supposed to get up to 108 degrees here today.  That’s not the heat index but actual temp! 

 

As a result of this extended heat wave, I’ve been chillin’ indoors where it’s cool, playing fetch in the living room, watching a little TV, etc.  One show on the Animal Planet titled Dogs 101 especially caught my interest.  Below is an image of me enjoying an episode.  It had me on the edge of my seat, or should I say armrest.   

 

 

In ancient times it was believed that the extreme heat of The Dog Days was due to the star Sirius’ (also known as the Dog Star) close proximity to the earth.   Sirius please do us all a favor and go fetch in a galaxy far, far away.  I’m one hot dog in need of some “Sirius” relief.

My first blog post!!!

Tonight was a nice, peaceful evening at home.  The family had Brats & kraut for dinner and I got to eat a mushed piece of bun off My Boy’s belly when he was lifted down from his highchair.  Yum! 

We then took a walk down the street.  Me and my big bro Tugg were sporty our harnesses and My Boy was riding behind us in his red wagon.  It was hot as H_ _ _ _ but I’m sure you’d find it a bit toasty too if you were wearing a fur coat outdoors in July.  Despite the heat though, it’s nice to pound your paws on the pavement and get out and about to see what’s going on in the neighborhood.  When we got home, Mom put some ice cubes in our water dish which was a refreshing treat.

Now the evening is winding down and I’ll soon be off to slumberland.  Night everyone in blogisphere!
